Koley Jessen’s Estate & Business Succession Planning Practice Group has developed a reputation for providing straightforward advice and designing tailored estate and business succession plans that meet the unique needs of the families and businesses our attorneys represent. Our clients range from families just starting out and in need of a basic estate plan to those who have built considerable wealth and require a comprehensive wealth transfer and business succession solution to transfer their life’s work. We also represent businesses of all sizes seeking to ensure their continuity through succession planning.
Business Succession Planning: We design, prepare and implement plans to transfer business interests from one generation to the next, to key employees or other third parties.
Estate Planning: We design, prepare and implement estate plans that meet our clients’ individual objectives.
Charitable Planning and Nonprofit Organizations: We work with our clients to help them accomplish their charitable objectives and related legacy planning. Often this requires the design and formation of nonprofit organizations. We typically continue to serve as legal advisors to these organizations and assist with fulfillment of their mission and objectives, as well as compliance matters and preservation of the organization’s tax exempt status.
Estate and Trust Administration: We counsel our clients who are serving as Executors of estates or as Trustee of a trust through the post-death administration process. We strive to minimize our client’s anxiety during what can often be an emotional time.
Why Koley Jessen?
Our Focus: In many law firms, estate planning services are tacked on to other departments or practice areas as an additional service. At Koley Jessen, the opposite is true. Our estate and business succession planning practice has been in place since the firm’s inception. The attorneys in this group specialize their practice in these areas to provide superior legal counsel.
Our Depth and Expertise: Our team is made up of ten dedicated attorneys with a range of experience levels which can be matched to each client’s individual estate and business succession planning objectives. Among our ten attorneys are team members who also have additional training and experience, including two who have earned Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licenses (currently inactive), one who has achieved a Masters in Tax (LLM), one who holds an MBA, and one who holds a Masters in Accounting.
It is our privilege to serve as the personal legal team to the families and businesses who have entrusted us to assist them with their most important and personal legal challenges and opportunities.
