Mary Donovan is a Shareholder and member of the Estate and Business Succession Planning and Tax Practice Groups. She represents trustees and personal representatives in the post-death administration of trusts and estates and advises clients on estate and income tax matters for maximizing post-death tax opportunities. She also counsels clients in estate and trust litigation matters. Mary advises individuals in structuring of their estate plans and assists in preparation of their wills, revocable trusts, irrevocable trusts (life insurance trusts, gifting trusts, charitable trusts, GRATs, QPRTs, etc.) powers of attorney and advance directives/living wills. As part of her charitable planning practice, Mary advises clients in choosing and structuring gifts to charitable organizations, which includes direct gifts, charitable trusts, donor advised funds, and charitable foundations. She also designs and forms nonprofit foundations for clients, advises nonprofit organizations regarding tax compliance and planning, and assists in funding, governing and terminating nonprofit foundations.
