Since last year, data privacy and cybersecurity litigation has continued to mushroom. Data breach and other claims related to threat actors continue to rise and website tracking tools continue to pose risks to businesses in all economic sectors, with the Plaintiffs’ bar branching out to try to capitalize on new privacy laws, old privacy laws, and to remedy mistakes made in last year’s filing explosion.
This one-hour session will address the evolving compliance and litigation landscape and focus on practical advice for mitigating risk, while addressing litigation and other cyber threats against your businesses. Special focus will be given to AI and its top of mind status.

In most situations, this is a “once and done” proposition, but recent changes have layered questions into this seemingly easy process for certain workers. This presentation will address the background of Form I-9 requirements, address changes to temporary work authorization programs under the current administration, and highlight the recent interplay between cancellation of work authorization and E-Verify.

In addition to AI, there will also be a discussion of other ethical issues faced by in-house counsel with practical tips on how to address them.

Nebraska Unicameral Update: Paid Sick Leave | 30 minutes

In November 2024, Nebraska voters approved of Initiative 436 that requires Nebraska employers to provide employees with paid sick leave. The Unicameral has since passed the Nebraska Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (the “Act”), which is set to take effect in September and October 2025. This presentation will cover the new requirements for Nebraska employers and regulatory guidance on the implementation of the Act from the Nebraska Department of Labor.
