Attorneys Joe Huigens and Rick Vroman will be joining the Healthcare Leaders Association of Nebraska (HLA) in Kearney for their 2024 Fall Summit and leading a session on HIPAA compliance and patient rights. This presentation goes beyond the basic elements of HIPAA to provide a more in-depth review of select topics, such as responding to patient requests to access or amend health information, patient privacy complaints, requests to restrict disclosures of health information, and responding to a potential security incident. A portion of the presentation will also address recent updates in healthcare law, including a discussion of the Supreme Court’s decision overturning the Chevron doctrine as well as the status of legal challenges to the FTC’s rule banning noncompete clauses.
