HIPAA Responds to Dobbs
In December 2024, the HIPAA Privacy Rule to Support Reproductive Health Care Privacy was published, introducing new protections for reproductive health information in response to Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. In the March/April 2025 edition of the Physicians Bulletin, Gretchen Lusso examined the rule’s broad definition of “reproductive health care,” new attestation requirements for certain PHI disclosures, and the potential compliance implications for providers.
