Raquel Boton focuses her practice on corporate and regulatory matters within the healthcare sector. Her interest and knowledge of the industry provides her clients with efficient, innovative, and personalized support.
Raquel’s experience includes regulatory compliance with Stark, the Anti-Kickback Statute, Medicare, Medicaid, and HIPAA. On the business side, she regularly assists with entity formation and corporate governance, including structuring physician buy-ins, buy-outs, and joint ventures. Raquel also has specialized knowledge on laws affecting ambulatory surgery centers, physician-owned specialty hospitals, and medical device companies. Additionally, she works on matters related to the employment of physicians and mid-level providers, such as issues relating to scope of practice laws and the corporate practice of medicine doctrine.
In law school, Raquel competed in the National Health Law Transactional Moot Court Competition, where she structured a complex merger between two health systems. She also competed in the Annual Health Law Regulatory & Compliance Competition, acting as special counsel to a hospital dealing with a variety of fraud and abuse issues. Prior to joining Koley Jessen, Raquel interned in the Office of the General Counsel at the American Dental Association and worked for a corporate law firm in Chicago.
