Data Privacy Issues in Family Law
This presentation assists family law attorneys in learning to issue-spot and handle practical data privacy concerns that family law clients may face as well as issues that may arise in their own law practice. It will provide (1) an overview of U.S. federal data privacy law, emphasizing privacy laws that would be likely to implicate families or children; (2) information on U.S. state data privacy laws, including the newly enacted California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018, which may have an impact on your law practice; (3) takeaways for attorneys to ensure their law practice is compliant with data privacy rules and regulations; and (4) ethical requirements touching data security.
