Right of Publicity Laws: Why They Matter, and What You Should Know
The right of publicity (a decades-old creature of state law) has re-emerged as an important legal theory, utilized by the famous and non-famous alike to defend against, and benefit from, the use of their names and likenesses for commercial purposes. This session will describe the history of these laws, why they are particularly relevant right now, and what we know about future legislation. The topic will be discussed from both the business compliance and litigation perspectives.
