Nathan Patterson Earns Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy Designation

Koley Jessen Senior Associate, Nathan Patterson, has earned the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®) designation from The American College of Financial Services. This designation equips professional advisors with advanced knowledge and tools help clients achieve their charitable giving, estate planning, and wealth management goals.

The year-long program, facilitated through the Omaha Community Foundation, brings together attorneys, financial advisors, CPA’s, and nonprofit professionals to foster collaboration and maximize philanthropic impact in the Omaha community. CAP® candidates complete three graduate-level courses covering philanthropic impact within family wealth planning, charitable giving strategies, and nonprofit gift planning. The curriculum also includes in-depth study of charitable trusts, private foundations, supporting organizations, donor-advised funds, and charitable gift annuities. With the completion of this program in 2025, Nathan joins Koley Jessen attorneys Brandon Hamm, James Tews, Alex Wolf, and Clark Youngman in earning this distinction.

As a member of Koley Jessen’s Estate and Business Succession Planning Practice Group, Nathan works closely with clients and their advisors to develop estate, business succession, wealth, and tax planning strategies that align with their personal and financial objectives. With a background in agriculture and business ownership, he provides hands-on guidance to family businesses and farms on wealth transfer, asset protection, and tax-efficient succession planning. Additionally, Nathan assists agriculture clients with entity structuring and program navigation related to FSA and USDA regulations, including qualification for beginning and minority farmers.
