Dan Weider Named 2021 Midlands Business Journal “40 Under 40” Recipient

12.06.2021

Koley Jessen Shareholder, Dan Weidner, has been named a 2021 Midlands Business Journal 40 Under 40 award recipient. The 20th class, honoring standout young professionals in the Greater Omaha business community, was announced in October.

“I was elated to not only be nominated but to be recognized as a 40 under 40 recipient, said Weidner. “I have spent my career not only trying to be at the top of my game professionally but also ensuring that I am always giving back to our community in meaningful ways. There is so much talent in Omaha and so many people that strive to lift the community as a whole that I feel privileged to have been selected.”

Since joining as an Associate attorney in 2007, Weidner has been an instrumental member of Koley Jessen’s team. Notably, Weidner is the founder and leader of the firm’s Construction Law Practice Group, where he has developed a niche area of expertise that has allowed the firm to better serve construction industry clients across a wide range of practices.

While Weidner spends a large portion of his time focused on construction litigation matters, he also handles complex commercial litigation for clients with disputes in state and federal court as well as private arbitration. Over the course of his career, Weidner has been admitted to practice in the state and federal courts for 34 states, providing him with the opportunity to learn the nuances of litigating matters in a variety of jurisdictions. As a result of his experience and practical and strategic advice, Weidner is in high demand among clients; has become a go-to attorney for a number of the firm’s top clients, including Fortune 500 and 1000 clients; has handled some of the firm’s largest litigation matters; and has developed a truly national litigation practice.

Alongside his work at Koley Jessen, Weidner is active in the community. In addition to years of participation in the Brush Up Nebraska Paint-A-Thon, Robert M. Spire Inns of Court, Grant’s Cause for Spina Bifida fundraiser, and as a volunteer for an Advance Trial Team at Creighton University School of Law, Weidner also serves others by means of Koley Jessen’s Pro Bono Program and through his involvement with Completely KIDS, where he has been involved in all facets of the organization for almost ten years and has served on the Board of Directors since 2016.

“One of Dan’s greatest attributes is his willingness to drop what he is doing to help others, said Alex Wolf, President of Koley Jessen. “While he routinely keeps one of the busiest schedules in the firm, he will always make time to help his colleagues with any problem, whether personal or professional. And when Dan dedicates himself to improving the community, he goes all in. For example, Dan annually leads the firm’s toy drive which recently resulted in delivery of an entire trailer full of toys to Completely Kids just in time for the Holiday season. For those reasons amongst numerous others, we are fortunate to have Dan on our team and it’s no surprise the MBJ saw fit to include him in their 2021 40 under 40 class.”

A special edition of Midlands Business Journal was published on December 24 featuring profiles on all 40 winners and an award ceremony is scheduled for February 4, 2022.
