Koley Jessen Data Privacy Attorneys Expand Credentials with IAPP Certifications
Koley Jessen is proud to announce that two of its data privacy attorneys, Mikaela Witherspoon and Nathan Sheeley, have recently earned new certifications from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), highlighting their commitment to staying at the forefront of privacy law and helping clients manage evolving data compliance obligations.
Mikaela Witherspoon now holds two leading certifications from IAPP — the Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) and, most recently, the Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM). While the CIPP/E reflects her knowledge of European data protection laws and regulatory requirements, the CIPM demonstrates her capability in building and managing privacy programs that turn those standards into practical, day-to-day business operations. These dual credentials showcase Mikaela’s ability to bridge global privacy frameworks with real-world compliance strategies. For clients, this means stronger guidance on privacy governance, risk management, and maintaining compliance across jurisdictions.
Nathan Sheeley has earned the Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) credential, demonstrating a strong foundation in U.S. privacy and data protection law. The CIPP/US recognizes proficiency in federal and state privacy regulations and the legal standards that govern how organizations manage and transfer personal data. Building on his work advising clients on data governance and regulatory compliance, Nathan’s certification strengthens his ability to help businesses address privacy risks, respond to regulatory obligations, and maintain effective compliance programs in a shifting legal landscape.
Together, Mikaela and Nathan’s achievements strengthen Koley Jessen’s data privacy capabilities and reflect the firm’s continued commitment to providing businesses in Omaha and throughout Nebraska and across the country with effective privacy counsel grounded in both legal insight and practical experience.
“We’re proud of the time and effort Mikaela and Nathan invested in earning these certifications,” said Maureen Fulton, Chair of Koley Jessen’s Data Privacy and Security practice. “Their initiative and expertise advance and elevate the way we support clients navigating today’s complex privacy and data protection challenges, and it’s exciting to see the impact their continued growth brings to our team and our clients.”
