Overview

Nathan Sheeley helps businesses navigate the growing operational, regulatory, and legal challenges tied to data privacy, cybersecurity, advertising technology, and emerging technologies. He advises clients ranging from B2B organizations and data brokers to other data-driven businesses on managing legal risk while supporting innovation, growth, and commercial objectives.

Nathan counsels clients on a broad range of state, federal, and international privacy and cybersecurity matters, including compliance with the Nebraska Data Privacy Act, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the California Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA), the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA), the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the CAN-SPAM Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Section 5 of the FTC Act, and other evolving privacy laws. He also advises clients on artificial intelligence (AI), digital advertising, and online data collection practices.

His work includes advising on privacy compliance strategies, drafting internal and external policies such as website privacy policies, terms of use, and AI use policies, and negotiating data-related contractual provisions. Nathan also assists clients with privacy and cybersecurity diligence in commercial transactions, advises companies responding to data security incidents and breach-related obligations, and represents clients in privacy-related litigation matters. 

Nathan provides day-to-day data privacy and cybersecurity counsel, helping structure their data practices, assess risk in vendor relationships and technology-driven business models, and respond to evolving regulatory requirements.

Nathan is an active member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals and holds the Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) designation.
