Craig Benson spoke at the NSBA's Real Estate, Probate, and Trust Law Section's Estate Planning Seminar in Omaha on March 19, 2024.

His presentation provided a basic overview of Intentionally Defective Grantor Trusts (IDGTs), including how they work and when to use them, as well as some practical planning tips and pitfalls that should be kept in mind. This covered the gifting and sale of closely-held business interests to IDGTs, how to retain control of the entity transferred, and how to ensure the client had sufficient cash flow to maintain their standard of living.
